If gas service is available to me, how do I apply?
If gas service is available, one needs only to complete an application for service and pay the appropriate fees. Applications are available at the main office of the York County Natural Gas Authority or at any of our collection agents. To print an application now, press Service Agreement.
Is a deposit required for new service?
For natural gas service connection, the Authority may require a deposit based on the credit worthiness of the applicant. Deposit amounts are initially determined by credit scoring from a national credit agency and are shown below:
| |
Customer Class |
Deposit Range |
| |
Residential |
$0 - $200.00 |
| |
Public Buildings |
$0 - $400.00 |

No deposit is required if the applicant receives a satisfactory credit score. Deposits are refundable after eighteen (18) months of good credit history. If the Customer has account history with the Authority, then that history will be used to determine the deposit amount.

What is the difference between the natural gas service line and house piping?
The service line is the natural gas pipes installed between the gas main and the customer's meter location. These lines are owned and maintained by the Authority.
The house piping is the natural gas pipes installed between the meter and each natural gas appliance located in the home or business. These lines are owned and maintained by the customer. On a cost basis, the Authority will install house piping for any appliances that we sell. If you purchased the appliances elsewhere, there are many other licensed gas piping contractors in York County that can install your house piping.
