York County Natural Gas Authority
    Service Installation

Generally, for residential class customers, YCNGA will extend a natural gas service line 300 feet from the gas main to the customer's home at no cost. An Aid-In-Construction (AIC) fee is applicable for all footage over the 300-foot limit. Please see the Fee Summary to determine the amount per foot. In addition, a tap fee of $175 is applicable to all single-family residential service line installations. The service line and metering equipment remain under the ownership and control of YCNGA. Ordinarily, the meter will be located on the side of the house, away from a driveway. However, YCNGA reserves the right to determine the specific location of the service line and metering equipment.

For faster service, fax the Service Agreement along with photo I.D. to Customer Service at 803.329.0998. Service Agreements that are faxed must include credit card information so that the appropriate fees can be charged. View the Fee Summary to see what may be applicable to you.

Service initiation (service turn on) usually takes place the same day provided the request is received before 3:30 PM.

Customer Owned Piping (House Piping)

The customer is responsible for the installation of all piping from the meter to your natural gas equipment (i.e. space heater, water heater or stove, etc.). If you wish, YCNGA is licensed to install piping and will do so at customer expense. Several local contractors also install piping.

Facility Inspections

The installation of your piping is subject to inspection and approval by an authorized representative of the municipal or county regulatory agency having jurisdiction. YCNGA is prohibited from furnishing natural gas service without evidence that the installation has been tested, inspected and approved in accordance with the appropriate codes.

Property Access

No employees of YCNGA may enter your home or structures on your property without your consent. However, employees of YCNGA, and its agents, reserve the right to enter your yard or grounds to make installations, inspections or repairs, take readings, or for other necessary purposes regarding Authority-owned facilities. Any service installation up to and including the meter is subject to removal or change only by an authorized representative of YCNGA. For your protection, every employee carries an official identification card showing his or her name and photograph. If you have any doubt about anyone who says they are from YCNGA, please ask to see their ID card.
